Sail Squadron
The Juneau Yacht Club is proud to host a variety of sail racing events, providing something for every taste: The "Spirit of Adventure Race", a 200-mile sailboat race around Admiralty Island National Monument, is the longest inland sailboat race on the west coast of North America, while the Juneau Cup Challenge is a series of 4 uniquely-handicapped weekend races for the family cruiser, and the Fall/Spring Harbor Racing Series provides 'around-the-buoys' excitement for the speedy crowd.
The Sail Squadron holds a regular monthly meeting on the first Friday of each month except June, July and August (too busy sailing) and September, when the Juneau Cup awards BBQ substitutes for a meeting. Usually there is a guest speaker and/or presentation on subjects ranging from navigation, weather and winterization to slideshows of members' charter vacations and delivery trips. Sailors, crew and just plain boat-crazy folks are invited to attend, as skippers are always looking for "rail meat" for the next race.
